Sylvie B. Raiford

Franklin – Sylvie Berry Raiford, 44, died August 13, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital with her family at her side. She was born in Clemens, MI, and was a retired service specialist with the DOC Southampton Men’s Detention Center. She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church.

Sylvie enjoyed her family and spending time with them at the beach. She had special friends at the Charlie’s RV Park at Kitty Hawk, NC. She was an animal lover.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 26 years, Daniel Merritt Raiford; her daughter, Jennifer Raiford; her son, Jeffery Raiford; her parents, Cecil and Francyne Meunier Berry of Camden, NC; two sisters, Susan Taylor (Jim) of Rowe, MA and Sherrill B. Wysong of Delhi, NY; sister-in-law, Lynn King (Delford) of Rawlings, VA; father & mother-in-law, Merritt and Mary Vaughan Raiford of Courtland; aunt & uncle, Suzanne & Jaques Morrisette of Montreal, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Monday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to Relay for Life, c/o Jim Jervey, 221 North Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851.
