When is enough enough?

To the Editor:

Again the government is doling out the working taxpayers’ money.

The article on the Nat Turner driving tour (“Nat Turner driving tour gets federal funds,” July 28) is ridiculous.

At a time when we are trillions in debt, they are giving $420,000 of our hard-earned money, and the county is kicking in another $105,000.

We just went through the process of the county raising our taxes and cutting spending to needful programs.

Don’t get me wrong, history is important, but if people want to take a tour, figure out how much a head to do so, and let them pay for their ticket. Programs like this should be paid for by donation, ticket sales or contributions.

When is enough enough?
