Virginia G. Pope
BOYKINS—Virginia Garris Pope, 87, died July 27, 2010, at Courtland Healthcare Center.
She was born in Margarettsville, N.C., and was the last surviving of nine children of the late David Mack and Maude Baugham Garris.
Virginia was retired from Astor Nut Co.
She was a member of Berean Baptist Church.
Virginia preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge Lee Pope, and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Pope.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Gladys Clements (Jimmy) of Emporia and Gracie Glover (Johnny) of Newsoms; son Linwood Pope (Glenda) of Emporia; grandchildren Pamela King, Jimmy Clements Jr., Stephen Clements, Robert Earl Clements, Brenda Burgess, Melissa Presson, Linwood Pope Jr. and Charles Pope; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Berean Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Alvis and Howard Vinson officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins, and suggest memorials be made to Berean Baptist Church, P.O. Box 235, Boykins, Va., 23827; or Boykins Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 347, Boykins, Va. 23827.
