Ezekiel M. Cohn
FRANKLIN—Ezekiel Michael Cohn “Zeke” is now at peace with this world.
He passed July 24, 2010, at the age of 21.
Zeke was born in San Francisco on March 10, 1989, and never forgot his “California Love” so aptly tattooed across his shoulders.
In 1990 he moved with his family to San Diego and had special childhood connections to Ocean Beach.
Zeke moved to Virginia in 2001.
He was determined to live on his own unique terms, and he won over the hearts of many. As Zeke had many friends whom he loved, he shared that “Loyalty is essential to anyone worth knowing.”
Zeke had been employed with the Franklin Dairy Queen for over a year and was pursuing his education.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Pamela Chase Cohn, in 2006.
Left to cherish his life and memories are his adopted family, including parents Larry and Sharyn Hughes of Suffolk; grandmother Edna “Billie” Cates of Portsmouth; sisters Lisa Cook and her husband, Mike, of Portsmouth, Lori Simpson and her husband, Big Mike, of Franklin and Jennifer Tate of England; nieces Ashley Cook and Megan Simpson; and nephews Matthew Cook, Jacob Simpson, and Austin and Avery Tate; brother Lothar Anton Jagers and his wife, Amber, of San Diego, with whom Zeke was inseparable as a child. Anton helped raise Zeke from a baby to his preteen years and will miss him dearly.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Nairn of River of Life Baptist Church officiating.
As part of Zeke’s wishes, he will be laid to rest beside his mother at a private service following the memorial in Charlottesville at Congregational Beth Israel.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
