James B. Jarratt
James B. “J. B.” Jarratt, 74, widower of Mary Anne Bobbitt Jarratt, died Sunday, July 18, 2010.
James was an associate pastor at Clarksbury Baptist Church in Boykins and retired from the Virginia Department of Forestry. During his 34 years of service there, he portrayed “Smokey the Bear” at schools throughout Virginia and in many parades and other events.
Local survivors include a daughter, Paige Casper of Branchville.
Family received Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home in Jarratt. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 21, at Readville Baptist Church, Sussex, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
