Rev. Clifton C. Blythe Jr.
The Rev. Clifton C. Blythe Jr., 93, of Corapeake, N.C., passed away July 14, 2010.
A native of Franklin, the Rev. Blythe graduated from Franklin High School and was president of his senior class.
He retired in 1986 from the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church after serving churches in Suffolk, Richmond, Onancock and Amherst, and was Pastor Emeritus of St. Andrews in Portsmouth.
Prior to entering the ministry, the Rev. Blythe was a field auditor and accountant for Camp Manufacturing Co. and owned and operated Blythe Dry Cleaners and Laundry in Franklin.
Among local survivors is a son, C. Earl Blythe (Louise) of Franklin.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with the Revs. Michael Reaves and Susan Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk.
Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, July 16.
