SEDLEY—A 16-year-old Courtland girl was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after she lost control of the four-wheeler she was driving at 11:23 a.m. Saturday.

The girl, who was not identified due to privacy laws, was in stable condition, said Will Drewery, a firefighter and emergency medical technician with Sedley Volunteer Fire Department. She was taken to Norfolk for precautionary reasons.

The girl was driving the four-wheeler one-half mile from Grace Memorial United Methodist Church near Peach Tree Avenue and Rosemont Road when the brakes apparently locked up and she was thrown, Drewery said.

Prior to the accident, she reportedly had been driving the four-wheeler in the parade for Sedley’s Fourth of July festivities.
