JOSEPH L. BABB, JR.
Joseph Leslie Babb, Jr., 88, passed away June 22, 2010, at his home.
Born in Isle of Wight County, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Adelia O. Babb, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Edwards Babb; sister, Claris B. Cooper; son-in-law, John R. Wright, III and daughter-in-law, Brenda O. Babb.
Mr. Babb was a member of Windsor Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, a member of the choir, and the L. T. Hall Sunday School Class. Mr. Babb was an honorary member of the Orbit Hunt Club where he was a Past Hunt Master. He was a life long farmer and had a love of baseball and fishing.
Survivors include his daughters and sons in law, Judith B. and David Bowden of Carrsville, Linda B. and Bill Kitchel of Appomattox; son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Emogene Babb of Windsor; grandchildren, Dave and Kim Bowden, Barry and Terrie Bowden, Leslie and Missie Babb, Bryan and Melissa Babb, Drs. Angela and John Olmsted, Lorrie and Aaron Brooks; step-grandchildren, Teresa Byrum, Greg Byrum, Travis Byrum; great grandchildren, Justin and Collin Bowden, Jamie and Lindsey Babb, Whitney, Katie and Brendan Babb, Samantha and Elizabeth Olmsted and 2 step great grandchildren, Amanda and Renee Drewery; brother, William Hurley Babb of Chesapeake; sister, Evelyn B. Hitchings of Virginia Beach; cousins, Mary B. Blythe of Franklin, Louise Goodwin of Chesapeake, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday June, 27, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at the Windsor Baptist Church, 4 Church Street, Windsor, VA, 23487 by the Rev. Bryan Brooks with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W.
