COURTLAND—Siblings Madison and Blake Snyder will share a booth during the Olden Days Festival in Smithfield as their first art vending project together.

“It’s always fascinating to see same-blood artists with completely different aesthetics,” Madison Snyer said.

Blake Snyder is a 2010 graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor’s of fine arts in studio arts. He plans to get his master’s degree and specialize in ceramics and oil paintings.

Madison Snyder attends Paul D. Camp Community College and hopes to enter the nursing program or get a marketing degree at Old Dominion University.

“You have to be flexible in this economy, but art is one passion that will never sway. As you can see it’s in my blood,” she said.

Madison Snyder has had her art shown in Rawls Museum Arts in Courtland and has designed signs for Habitat for Humanity and Bristy’s Closet. The 20-year-old focuses on acrylics, decorating jewelry boxes and ceramic sculptures.

The siblings will have a booth with their artwork displayed on Saturday, June 26, at the Olden Days Festival. The festival will take place from Friday, June 25, through Sunday, June 27.
