To the Editor:

I want to say congratulations and thank you to Julia Williams, Southampton County finance director.

I have not known Julia for all the years she served Southampton County, but I do know her for the years she served with the Western Tidewater Community Services Board. She filled the term that was started with Vernie Francis and she filled it well.

I remember a few years ago when we had to travel all over Southampton County and Isle of Wight and Suffolk. I complained about all that travel and reimbursement. Julia told me I could drive the county car if I wanted to.

I wish her well in her retirement.
