Clarence Murphy
Franklin—William Clarence Murphy, 82, died May 26, 2010 at Courtland Healthcare Center in Courtland. He was born in Johnston County, NC, a son of the late Vick and Sallie Parham Murphy and was predeceased by four brothers, and his two best friends, Bennie Barksdale and Stanley Pope. An Army Air Force veteran, Clarence was owner of Murphy Motors and a member of Hunterdale Christian Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Ruby Winstead Murphy, one daughter, Sally Murphy of Emerald Isle, NC; one son, William Talmadge Murphy (Betty) of Franklin; two grandchildren, Eryn Eitel and Gregory Murphy; two sisters, Ruth M. Saunders of Suffolk and Annabelle M. Hauley of Newport News; nieces and nephews; and his black lab, Max.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the Hunterdale Christian Church with the Rev. Randy Wright and the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Friday at Wright Funeral Home and suggest memorials be made to the Hunterdale Christian Church, 741 Hunterdale Road, Franklin, Va. 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome
