Darnell Lee Jr., a rising senior at Shaw University, will be hosting a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22.

Darnell has started a foundation — Lending a Hand to the Community. In November he gave out 50 turkeys, and at Christmas the foundation gave gifts to four families.

Darnell is a remarkable young man who believes that we all need to give back to the community for those around us to succeed.

The cost of the breakfast is $5. All money raised will be used to support the community.

Courtland native Lee Dodson was spotted discussing strategies with

Dodson is a pit crew member of Newman’s Phoenix Racing Team. Newman took second behind winner Kyle Busch, who swept the weekend, winning both the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series races at Dover.

Newman filled in for regular driver James Bouscher.
