The Tidewater News won four awards in 2009 Virginia Press Association Advertising Contest.

Graphic artist Ryan Outlaw teamed up with general manager Betty Ramsey to take second place for an advertisement for Pascussi Studios in the Professional/Technology Services Black and White Category.

Outlaw and account executive Mitzi Lusk took second for an advertisement for All Sewn Up in the Professional/Technology Services Color Category.

Outlaw and Lusk also took third with a Firearms Sales Co. ad in the Entertainment and Lifestyles Category.

Lusk took third for an ad for Jack t. Story & Sons in the Automotive Black and White Category.
