RICHMOND — Hermie Sadler of Emporia finished in 32nd place with 6 laps down in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on April 30 at Richmond International Raceway.

Sadler races in this series on a part-time basis. The race included seven cautions for 45 laps.

The following day, Sadler finished in 38th place, 15 laps down during the NASCAR Spring Cup Series. The race consisted of 6 cautions for 37 laps.

For the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Brad Keselowski didn’t let a late-race pit stop keep him from getting to Victory Lane. This was Keselowski’s second straight win this season.

He started the race in fourth with Kyle Busch sitting on the pole.

There were four lead changes during the race with Busch leading from the pole for 58 consecutive circuits before turning the lead over to Keselowski.

Keselowski held onto the first-place position for the following 188 laps before Busch took over the lead on lap 247 for four laps.

Greg Biffle then led lap 251 before Keselowski sling-shotted his way to the win coming off turn two on the final lap.

Prior to the final restart, Keselowski led the race followed by Busch. Busch ducked down like he was going to pit; Keselowski then went into the pits, and Busch swerved back onto the track to fake out Keselowski.

Although Busch tried to trick his opponent with this cat-and-mouse move, Keselowski’s fresh tires combined with a strong will and determination and driving performance kept Busch from getting into Victory Lane.

Busch seems to always be a contender at Richmond International Raceway, winning there on May 1 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the second time in the last three races.

This was Busch’s first win of the season and since Bristol in August 2009.

Busch and Jeff Gordon were the dominant drivers, leading most of the race. There were 12 lead changes with Busch leading from the pole position for 140 circuits. He then turned the lead over to Gordon, who led for 4 laps.

Busch then retook the lead on lap 145 and led until lap 173 when he was overtaken by Ryan Newman. Busch retook the lead on lap 177 and led for 53 laps.

Busch began to fall back, allowing Jeff Burton to take the lead on lap 230 who handed it back over to Gordon on lap 250. Gordon led until lap 267 and then handed the lead over to Kevin Harvick, who only led for one lap, handing the lead to Martin Truex Jr., who led lap 268.

Carl Edwards then led the next two laps when Tony Stewart took over the lead on lap 271 and led for two laps.

Gordon then retook the lead on lap 273 and led for the next 123 laps and looked like he would cruise into Victory Lane. However, a late caution foiled his attempt as when the final restart waved, Busch took the lead and pulled away from the pack.

This was Busch’s 17th career victory and second at Richmond. Runner-up Gordon posted his 23rd top 10 finish at Richmond.
