Councill wins re-election; Lawrence ousted

Incumbent Mayor Jim Councill cruised to re-election Tuesday with 56 percent of the vote, according to complete but unofficial results.

Councill received 863 votes to Riddick’s 684.

In Ward 3, incumbent Councilwoman Rosa Lawrence lost in a landslide to challenger Greg McLemore, who received 70 percent of the vote. McLemore received 184 votes to Lawrence’s 80.

In Ward 6, where incumbent Councilman Mark Fetherolf did not seek re-election, Donald T. Blythe prevailed in a three candidate field, garnering 116 votes, or 41 percent, to Ray Smith’s 90 votes, or 31 percent, and Jamie Brown’s 80 votes, or 28 percent.
