Chrysostomous scores season-record 32 goals

Southampton Academy’s soccer team will play a semi-final match at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference tournament at Brunswick Academy.

In related matters, Raider Drey Chrysostomous for a third year in a row set a record for goals scored in a season. Chrysostomous scored 32 this year; his brother Tim Chrysostomous scored 19.

Southampton Academy finished its regular season 11-4-1 and 7-2-1 in the VCC, earning a second-place seed and first-round bye in the tournament.

The Raiders last week defeated Brunswick Academy 9-1 and Blessed Sacrament Hugenot Academy 7-1.

For the season, the Raiders outscored their opponents 88-20 in 16 games. Defense and keeper Thomas Taylor recorded six shutouts this season.
