Southampton’s Young gives up one hit

Southampton High School pitcher Janie Young gave up one hit for the team’s 5-0 win over Greensville Eagles on Thursday.
Southampton is 4-2 in the Southside District and 6-2 overall.
The Lady Indians had an errorless game and combined for 13 hits, including triples by Megan Revelle and Brandie Hunt.
Freshman Demone’ Brickhouse came into the game for an injured Carla Matthews and stole two bases in two attempts.
Lady Indian Megan Revelle went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Senior teammate Brandie Hunt went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Classmate Hannah Turner went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The Lady Indians will travel on Monday, April 26, to Sussex and host Prince Edwards on April 27, and Bluestone on April 28.
Carla Matthews was taken out as a precautionary measure and will be able to play on Monday.
