EMPORIA—Mary Johnson Owen Pollard, 87, formerly of Emporia, passed away April 10, 2010, after a brief illness in Elkins, W.Va.
She was born in Brunswick County on Dec. 20,1922, to John Henry Johnson and Eliza Allen Johnson Hubbard.
She was a homemaker and was an employee of Emporia Drive Inn Theatre.
She was predeceased by her first husband Edward Palmer Owen and daughter Peggy Owen Brand of Emporia and her second husband Robert Pollard of Lawrenceville, one sister Annie Mae Johnson Porter Butler of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. and one brother William Henry Johnson of Emporia.
She is survived by one daughter Katherine (Kathy) Owen Healey and husband, Roland of Elkins; two granddaughters, Melody Blount Watson and husband, Wade of Upperville, Va. and, formerly of Franklin ,VA and Kristin Nolf Gillette of Elkins, formerly of Courtland and Brunswick County; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday April 24, 2010, at 1pm at Emporia Cemetery on Brunswick Avenue. Wright Funeral Home of Franklin will be handling the arrangements. Flowers may be sent to Wright Funeral Home 206 W. 4th Ave., Franklin, VA 23851 or to the graveside.
