PDCCC graduation speaker announced

Dr. Robert “Bob” P. Leber, director of Education and Workforce Development and head of The Apprentice School and the Sector’s Training Services at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding’s Newport News operations, will be the speaker for Paul D. Camp Community College’s graduation.

The 7 p.m. May 14 ceremony will be held at the college’s Regional Workforce Development Center in Franklin.

Leber serves as the sector’s point-of-contact for workforce development activities and chairman of the Virginia Workforce Council. He is immediate past Chair of the Greater Peninsula Workforce Investment Board.

Leber also serves as president of the Newport News Education Foundation and on the National Association of Workforce Boards and Virginia Career Education Foundation. He is also a member of American Society for Training and Development’s Public Policy Council and Commonwealth’s P-16 Education Council.

Leber has a marine engineering degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, a liberal arts degree from University of Evansville, a master’s in business administration from The College of William and Mary, a master’s of arts in education and human development from George Washington University and a doctorate of strategic leadership from Regent University.

A long-time resident of Carrollton, Leber served eight years on the Isle of Wight County Planning Commission, including two years as its chairman and four years as the chairman of the county’s Capital Improvements Program Committee.
