Easter Eggstravaganza

Published 11:06 am Saturday, April 3, 2010

Last Saturday morning, the grassy area in front of Barrett’s Landing gazebo was speckled with pastel-colored eggs as the Downtown Franklin Association held its annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The Franklin High School DECA club covered the area — which was divided into three age groupings — with the coveted candy.

As the clock struck 11 a.m., the youngest group of children (ages 2 to 4 ) was given the go-ahead to start the search, and chaos ensued. They were followed by the 5- to 7-year-olds and the 8- to 10-year-olds.

The Easter Bunny was on hand to give the signal for each respective age group to begin. Assisting the Easter Bunny in his duties were Downtown Franklin Association board members Beverly Myers and Kathy Worrell and Downtown Main Street Manager Dan Howe.

By 11:15, the mad dash for eggs gave way to meeting and greeting the guest of honor — the Easter Bunny. After initiating the hunt, he posed for keepsake photos with children afterward.

The DFA thanked Sandy Atkinson and the DECA club for their assistance and Madison McPhillips for donning the rabbit costume and bringing so much joy to the children.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt is one of many family activities hosted by the Downtown Franklin Association.
