TA softball still unbeaten

WAKEFIELD—Tidewater Academy edged Brunswick Academy 8-6 Wednesday in a battle of unbeaten Virginia Commonawealth Conference softball teams.
The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning, built the margin to 8-1 after six innings and held off a furious Brunswick rally in the seventh and final frame.
Coach Brent Lowe’s team improved to 6-0 overall, 4-0 in the VCC. TA had 10 hits and committed three errors. Brunswick had just four hits.
Hayes Holdsworth got the pitching win, improving to 3-0. Mackenzie Blackwell was the losing pitcher for Brunswick Academy and had a three-run homer offensively.
TA offensive standouts were Marianna Stephenson. who went 2-for-3, scoring two runs with an RBI and a triple, and Taylor Warner, who was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
