BLACKSTONE—Kenston Forest School’s James Clements and Southampton Academy’s Cameron Ray pitched near perfect games, but the Kavaliers beat the Raiders 3-1 in a well played Virginia Commonwealth Conference game here Friday.

Cameron Ray led off the game with a single to center, but that was the only hit the Raiders had until the last inning.

Kenston Forest scored one run in the first inning on two singles. Ray did not give up another hit until the fifth inning.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Kavaliers until the home team scored two more runs on three singles in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.

Garrett Smith replaced Ray in the sixth inning and kept the Raiders close. The Raiders finally scored in the top of the seventh when Ryan Pittman was hit by a pitch. Carson Camp followed with a single to right field, and Pittman scored on an infield ground out by Blake Drewry.

The Raiders could not muster another hit and fell to 2-2 on the season.

The Raiders host Fuqua School at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday before traveling to Surry High School on Friday.
