To the Editor:

On behalf of the Newsoms Ruritan Club, I would like to say thank you to all of the participants who helped our club raise funds for community service projects at our Dinner Auction on Feb. 28.

To the merchants and individuals who donated brand-new as well as gently used items for auction, I commend you, especially during these tough economic times. Every person who attended the lively auction got into the spirit, and everyone said they had a wonderful evening and will be returning for next year’s event.

Auctioneer Joe Gray once again made the bidding process fun and exciting, and we thank him as well for donating his services. The winner of the 50/50 raffle, Les Everett, added to the proceeds when he donated his winnings back to the club.

By the end of the evening, more than $3,500 was raised to fund local projects such as the athletic field, academic scholarships, July Fourth parade and numerous worthwhile events that all help to strengthen the fabric of our community. Thank you all once again for your continued generosity.
