Attorney general embarrasses Virginia

To the Editor:

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II has instructed Virginia universities to remove “sexual orientation” protection from all non-discrimination policies.

Even those who oppose homosexuality on religious grounds have a hard time coming up with rational justification to encourage discrimination against anyone in education or hiring.

It is hard to understand what positive outcome Mr. Cuccinelli expects from these actions. Does he believe this will somehow reduce the number of homosexuals in the commonwealth? Or that an increase in discrimination would be a good thing for our universities?

This most recent step in Mr. Cuccinelli’s continuing crusade to encourage discrimination has done nothing other than bring shame and embarrassment to the Commonwealth from throughout the country.
