Leo R. Johnson
BOYKINS—Leo Ray Johnson, 72, widower of Josephine “Jo Ann” Carter Johnson, died Feb. 22, 2010.
He was born in Southampton County, the son of the late David Langwood and Leatha Knight Johnson.
Leo was retired from the Maintenance Department of Southampton Correctional Center after 30 years service. He was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge and Meherrin Hunt Club and a past member of the Boykins Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his daughter, Denise Johnson Edwards and partner, Kathy Wiggs and her son, Steven; his fiancée, Grace Lorene Lanier; his sister, Betty J. Carter (Paul) of Franklin; one nephew, David Carter (Linda) and their daughter, Victoria.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery.
