Justin Grant poured in 23 points to lead Franklin to a 60-52 win over Surry County in the boys’ championship game of the Tri-Rivers District tournament Saturday night.

For Franklin, Franti Urquhart scored 17 points and Deshawn Lassiter added 11 points.

In the girls’ game, Franklin kept it close, but Surry County defended its regular season championship with a 70-65 victory.

For Franklin, Pashawn Hunt scored 20 points, Kierra Lee scored 14 points, and Iesha Boone and Keshara Bradley both scored 13.

Both Franklin teams will be in action this week in the Group A Region A Division 1 playoffs. The Lady Broncos will host Chincoteague at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. With the win, the boys ended up second in the region and will host a playoff game Friday night against either West Point or Rappahannock.
