Possible school closing angers her

To the Editor:

There are some shady things going on in Isle of Wight County Schools. I am fired up and do not know what to do about it. I am going to write everyone about it, until I get the right person’s attention.

I am not sure where to begin. They would like to close our current Windsor Middle School, sending the sixth-graders to Carrsville Elementary School (which is already overcrowded).

The remaining seventh- and eighth-graders would go to Windsor High School, eliminating the advance-placement classes there to make room, in an already overcrowded school.

My issue with this proposal is that the school board is claiming it is a budget matter. They are the last ones that should be making such claims. They waste enough money themselves. Look at their expense reports Why do they even have expense reports?

At the last meeting I attended, the accountant reported that there was more than $100,000 left over from last year in the school’s budget. Where did that money go to?

Why do we need to shut down an entire school? They are spending tens of thousands of dollars renovating Smithfield high and middle schools instead of fixing Windsor Middle School.

We cannot have overcrowded classrooms in Windsor/Carrsville. Unless this is a temporary fix, this cannot be allowed to happen.

They cannot shut down Windsor Middle School.

The classrooms in Carrsville Elementary and Windsor High School will be even more overcrowded.

It is not fair to our children or to the teachers.

Someone needs to investigate this situation and stop our school board.

Our county will not stand for it. We will take a stand for our children.
