Retailers offering ‘Super’ deals

FRANKLIN—Fans aren’t the only ones gearing up for the big game.

Area businesses are suiting up and offering deals for Super Bowl Sunday, too.

Overtime Grill, a new sports bar on Armory Drive, is offering 50-cent hot wings throughout the day and pre-game and halftime specials, including lower prices on loaded fries, chips and salsa, nachos and cheesesticks.

All 10 televisions will be tuned to the Super Bowl when the Indianapolis Colts take on the New Orleans Saints in Miami. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.

“I’m hoping for a large crowd,” said Manager Luke Hewett. “I think we’ll be busy since we’re the only place around here with so many TVs.”

For those who want to enjoy the game at home, Hewett said Overtime is selling to-go wings platters. Golden Skillet also is selling a Super Bowl platter with hot wings, ham rolls and party wings.

“A lot of people have Super Bowl parties,” said owner Dan Shull. “It’s a good time for finger food.”

Nottoway House Furniture in Courtland is getting in on the action, too.

The store is slashing prices on La-Z-Boy recliners and TV stands, which will start out at $299. Fans can order them up until Saturday.

“We can arrange to deliver on that day,” said owner Collin Pulley.

Pulley, a Colts fan since he was 12, is selling a blue recliner with the team logo emblazoned on it. The store normally sells chairs with NFL logos from teams that have a big following here, such as the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We don’t have one with the Saints, though,” Pulley said with a chuckle.
