COURTLAND-The Franklin-Southampton Concert Association’s third concert of the season will feature Chapter 6, a six-man a cappella ensemble from the Chicago area.

The group, composed of six Millikin University (Illinois) men who have won numerous awards for their harmony, will perform at Southampton High School at 8 p.m. Saturday.

“This group has gotten rave revues from all the critics,” said Nancy Rowe, president of the concert association. “I believe we’re in for a real treat.”

The ensemble became the youngest group to qualify for the Chicago-area National Harmony Sweepstakes and won the regional competition for three straight years. They then went on to win the prestigious grand champion title at the 2004 National Harmony Sweepstakes.

Making their debut in 2001, the six vocalists have since toured North America and Asia, performing a family-friendly show that features intricate harmonies and first-class stage wit.

Their reputation continues to grow internationally. While they perform at college campuses and at high school auditoriums, they are equally at home in a concert hall.

Said one critic, “Their comedy-based blend of pop, jazz, gospel and rock, brings spontaneous bursts of laughter and applause throughout the show.

“Their versatility and appeal knows no bounds, capturing audiences of all ages and musical tastes.”

Rowe said tickets, $25 for adults and $10 for students, will be available at the door.
