To the Editor:

In reading the letter about Ronnie McClenny (McClenny deserves recognition,” Jan. 15), it was noted that McClenny had not been recognized by the city for his years of service and his exemplary evaluations. He’s not the only city employee who has been treated in that manner.

I retired from the Franklin City Commissioner of the Revenue office on Feb. 1, 2008. (Then City Manager) Bucky Taylor presented me with a certificate of service on Jan. 24, 2008, which was actually my last working day.

However, according to a very reliable source who is a city employee, the correct procedure is for a retiree to be recognized at a City Council meeting and presented the certificate.

I worked 19 years and 7 months for the city, many extra hours and on occasion into the wee hours of the morning in order to meet deadlines.

I find it disgusting that each employee is not treated equally and think that there should be an investigation into equalization. By the way, I am white.
