About 450 Franklin Power & Light customers, including businesses along Armory Drive, were without power for about an hour-and-a-half Monday night.

The power went out at about 4 p.m. and was restored by 5:30 p.m., according to Scott Whisenant, line technician superintendent.

Dominion Power was called to the substation, which is located at the end of South Street by the bypass, to turn a breaker back on.

“Insulator inside the substation broke and fell down and shorted out,” Whisenant said.

Customers from Beale’s Corner to Southampton Trailer Park, up and down South Street and on all of Armory Drive were affected.
