BRANCHVILLE—Joshua Mackenzie “Josh” Woods, 20, won his two and one half year battle with cancer January 10, 2010 when the Lord called him home.
Josh was at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was a member of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department and Community Praise and Worship Center in Courtland.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Matthew and Barbara Woods; sisters, Shelby Woods and Dara Hatcher; brothers, Elijah and Grady Woods and William C. Hatcher, III, and William Nicholas Hatcher; maternal grandfather, William C. and Reba Hatcher; paternal grandparents, Terrence and Arlene Woods; aunts and uncles, Beth Bulluck, Susan Manke, Robin and Maylon Edwards, Cliff Hatcher, Jr., Peter and Kathryn Woods, and Theresa and Claudio Salomone; and many cousins.
Josh was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Betty H. Hatcher.
A fireman’s funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Cindy Buchanan officiating.
Interment will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Branchville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 111, Branchville, VA 23828, or Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters Cancer Unit, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23510.
