FRANKLIN—Virginia Rogers Ricks, 83, died Tuesday, January 5, at Sentara Louise Obici Hospital in Suffolk after a short illness.
Born in McColl, S.C. to William D. and Beulah P. Rodgers.
She was the widow of Grady V. Ricks of Conway, N.C.
There, besides being a caring wife and mother, she worked as a Bookkeeper with Milecraft and with Georgia Pacific.
After her husband’s untimely death in 1977 she moved to Rocky Mount, N.C. where she lived until 2003 she moved to Franklin, VA. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and “great granny.”
She was a member of Englewood United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine R. Holland and husband Bob, of Franklin and Donna R. Lawrence and husband Allen of Enfield, N.C.; one son, Grady V. Ricks, Jr. and wife, Kim, of Seaboard, N.C.; four grandchildren, Allison Warren and husband, Chris, of Greenville, Jenny and Bobby Holland of Franklin, and SPC, Grady C. Ricks and wife, Jackie, of Ft. Hood, TX; two great grandchildren, Tess and Hank Warren of Greenville, and one great-grandchild that Chad and Jackie are expecting in August; three sisters, Marie Baucom and Ila Bea Hubbard of McColl, S.C. and Geraldine Scism of Bennettsville, S.C.; and a brother, William D. Rodgers, Jr. of Deland, FL.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 11:00 a.m. in Conway United Methodist Church, Conway, N.C. with burial following in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends in the church Social Hall following the Committal Service.
The family has requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to a church or charity of your choice.
