Flora B. Rives
FRANKLIN—Flora Leonore Baxter Rives, 90, widow of James Redden Rives, Jr., passed away December 27, 2009.
She was a daughter of the late Dr. James Newton and Minetta Hice Baxter and was a longtime resident of Purcellville, Va.
Mrs. Rives worked at Loudoun Memorial Hospital for many years and also was a former manager of the Drug Fair Cafeteria in Purcellville. She was a life member of Purcellville Woman’s Club and a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Carolyn R. Funkhouser (Gary) of Franklin, Jeannette R. Misenheimer (Tony) of Rockwell, N.C., and Lurene R. Call of Hampton; two sons, Kenneth B. Rives (Cindy) of Ranson, W.Va. and James R. Rives, III, (Linda) of Leesburg; one sister, Rosalyn Forier; one brother, David Teich of Denver, CO; eleven grandchildren, Shane, Dana, Joe, Heather, Caroline, Mary Craig, Brian, Lisa, Kari, Kristen, Jessica; and thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jeannette Johnson of Hampton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Enfield, N.C. Cemetery with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
