Sharita L. Sykes
FRANKLIN—Sharita Lonita Brown Sykes, 33, entered into eternal rest, December 18, 2009, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Sharita was born in Franklin on July 8, 1976 and attended school in the Southampton and Greensville counties school systems.
She also was in the Job Corps where she earned a trade in bricklaying at Woodland Job Corp in Maryland. Sharita was a devoted employee of Franklin Pizza Hut. If you happened to stop by, then her smiling face would have certainly been there to greet you at the door. Sharita loved her work family and all customers, which she referred to as “My Customers.”
Sharita enjoyed and looked forward to being a part of the community and wanted to make a positive difference. She felt it was her duty to be a helping hand in the Obama campaign for President by volunteering in her Community.
She was a strong advocate for the all to do their part and by not only registering but to follow up and vote.
To be one of the many to travel to Washington was considered an honor to experience. Her strong love for the community was also shown as she encouraged all to join together in a community prayer of encouragement for all that are affected by the future closing International Paper.
It was her wish for all to do all they could to help everyone in the community. She helped with the float for the recent Franklin parade.
Loved ones which will miss Sharita include; Leroy Sykes, husband; Michael Travonne Brown, son; Theresa Brown, mother; Lester Artis, father; Jasmine Renee Sykes, step-daughter; Shawn Dante Sykes, step-son; Suzette B. Lewis, special devoted Godmother; mother-In-law, Carolyn Sykes Ward (Calvin); Shannon Brown and Mia Lewis, God-daughters; Shemeka Brown Saxon (Nathaniel) and Tameka Judge-Pope (Kenneth), God-sisters; Regina Brown, Sabrina Williams, and Mona Lisa Gary, aunts; Tyrone Kee, Lafayette Brown (Teresa) and Joe Sam Benton, uncles. A special relation was shared with Julie Ridley, which Sharita considered “My Momma when I’m away from my Ma.”
