How’s business: Business has been affected by the current economy; however, we still have some activity. We are listing property and have had three closings this week, so business is not at a standstill. We are thankful for our customers and clients.
One thing you wish everyone knew about your business: Our office is like a family unit. We have a diverse group of individuals, but we all work together as a team. We are a “local” business, but have a huge support system in the Century 21 organization.
Something you offer that a customer won’t find elsewhere: Personalized service. You are never just a number at Century 21. Our success depends on customer referrals. When we do a good job for the customer, they will tell a friend. That’s the best kind of advertising you can have. It’s priceless.
Advice to young entrepreneurs: Set your goals, work hard — it will happen.
Your first job: When I was in high school, I worked in Rose’s Dime Store in Norfolk.
Your role model (in business or in life generally): My role model was my brother, Floyd Wills. He taught me everything I know about business. My father died at a young age, and he was more like a father to me than a brother. Floyd always gave me good advice and led by example.
The key to a successful business is: As Davey Crockett said, “Plan your work and work your plan.”
