Writer wants people to support American companies

To the Editor:

The economy of this country is going downhill fast, yet we continue to purchase everything made in foreign countries. Look around your house.

How many items, other than your kids, can you find that were made in the United States? Not much! Look in Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Everything from home decor to clothing and most of your fruits come from Sri Lanka, Japan, Pakistan, Indonesia and, most of all, China.

China has poisoned baby food, toys and drywall, yet American companies continue to have them make their products.

Write your Congress leader and demand that higher taxes be imposed on American companies having their products made elsewhere and a tax credit be given to companies making products here in this country.

Companies make products outside the United States so they can make more profit for themselves.

Sure, if products are made in the U.S. they will cost more, but Americans will have jobs making money, paying taxes, unemployment goes down, the economy gets better, people get raises and, therefore, people will be able to afford higher prices.

We, as Americans, need to stand up and let Congress know what “we, the people” expect.
