To the Editor:

On Nov. 11 I was privileged to speak to Mrs. Wise’s class at Riverdale Elementary School and the lower school at Southampton Academy about Veterans Day.

Many thanks to Mrs. Wise at Riverdale and headmaster Dr. Mercer Neale of Southampton Academy. I also want to thank Ed Mattucci, post commander of Post 4411 Veterans of Foreign Wars, for donating Buddy Poppies for Mrs. Wise’s class.

It was an honor to speak to these young people about why we celebrate Veterans Day.

I was greatly impressed with these fine young students.
