William D. Lackey
FRANKLIN—William David “Billy” Lackey, 29, son of Michael and Carolyn Lackey, died December 9, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
He was a native of Franklin and was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Ruth O. Lackey and his maternal grandfather, Gray B. Williams.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School where he enjoyed playing the roll of “The Franklin Bronco” mascot.
Billy was a former Cub Scout, a participant and medalist in the Special Olympics, and an employee of Food Lion.
Survivors besides his parents are two brothers, Kevin Lackey (Sherry) and Jonathan Lackey; nephew, Brian Barrett; niece, Samantha Barrett; maternal grandmother, Nancy Williams; uncle, Gary Williams; aunts, Mary Kelton (Dave), Kathy Kelton, Pat Lackey, Pam Hope; cousins, Matthew Kelton, Suzi Woodcock, Patsy Coughlan, and hundreds of friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred McCall officiating.
A reception will follow at the Franklin Presbyterian Church.
The family suggests memorials be made in Billy’s memory to the Franklin Presbyterian Church or Special Olympics.
