FRANKLIN—Mrs. Maggie Bell Jones Walton, 85, of Bruce Street, Franklin, peacefully slipped into eternal rest on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:55 a.m.
She died in her home after persevering through a long illness.
Born in Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Cora Whitehead Jones.
She was a retired employee of Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, and a member of the former Mt. Calvary Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walton was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence T. Walton; four brothers, Paul Jones, Jim A. Jones, Phillip Jones, Johnnie Jones; three sisters, Elizabeth Jones Hunt, Beatrice Jones Banks, and Annie L. Jones Holley.
Survivors include four children, Dorothy W. Wells (Donald) of Richmond, VA, Thomas S. Walton of Portsmouth, VA, Thomasine W. Urquhart and Myra B. Walton, both of Franklin, VA; one sister, Mrs. Cora Sharpe of Franklin, VA; two brothers, Willie Jones of Franklin, VA and Joe F. Jones of Ivor, VA; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., Apostolic Faith Church of God, 680 Oak Street, Franklin, VA, where Elder Ronnie Warren is pastor.
The service will be officiated by the Reverend Samuel Buck of Courtland, VA.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, Franklin, VA.
A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 South Main Street, Franklin, VA.
