He’s impressed with the quality of care

To the Editor:

I’ve been the recipient of medical services from a variety of institutions and rehabilitative facilities over the years, and not once have I been inclined to voice my personal satisfaction — until now.

Recently, I had the pleasure of spending some quality rehabilitative time at Courtland Healthcare in Courtland, and I want to say thank you to everyone there — from the nurses and aides, to the administrators. They all had a hand in making my stay there a pleasant and productive one.

The facility was unusually clean. In fact, the floors were so shiny that they looked like they had a glaze of ice on them. And, the food was excellent.

One of the administrators set the tone of the place at the outset of my stay. He said, if you don’t get enough to eat, ask for more. If you don’t like what they give you, ask for a menu and ask for something different.

Additionally, the facility offered plenty of activities. We always had something to do.

I’ve been sick for about 15 years, and this has been my most pleasant experience to date.

With regard to rehabilitation, their course of therapy was just superb. The therapists showed a lot of patience with their patients. I experienced very good occupational therapy there, and the staff was very helpful with my overall personal needs. Additionally, I can’t say enough about the quality of their physical therapists — they had me using a walker in no time.

I’ve had the experience to utilize the services of other facilities in the region, but the one in Courtland was by far the best. Everyone had time for the patients, and the patients were of primary concern. If I had questions, concerns or issues, someone was there to listen to me and address those … even the administrators — they had a great relationship with their patients. At other facilities, days could go by before you would see an administrator. At Courtland, they had time to talk with you and listen to you.

No one ever looks forward to being sick and being away from home for rehabilitation, but the folks in Courtland made up for the inconvenience. They helped me, and I’m very pleased and impressed with what they did for me there.

Nurses, therapists, kitchen staff, administrators … they were all impressive, qualified and helpful. They put the patient first and my recovery was made that much more quickly because of them.

Giving credit where credit is due, I couldn’t be more impressed with the staff at Courtland Healthcare. Thank you. It’s good to know there is such quality care available if you need it.
