FRANKLIN—Santa Claus won’t be making an appearance in Franklin Saturday. The Franklin Christmas Parade scheduled for Saturday has been canceled because of a rainy weather forecast.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to start late Friday night and continue into the day Saturday. Snow could mix with rain late Saturday afternoon, but no accumulation is expected.

There was no rain date and the parade event won’t be rescheduled, according to Dan Howe, executive director of the Downtown Franklin Association.

However, Santa and Mrs. Claus will still be in town Friday evening for the elf parade.

Elf parade participants are asked to assemble in the parking lot in front of the Train Depot/Visitors Center at 5:30 p.m. to receive their elf hats. Participants will walk with Santa and Mrs. Claus down Main Street to Barrett’s Landing for refreshments, Christmas carols and the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree.
