Writer critical of company

To the Editor:

Verizon has just announced a surplus of 1,078 area workers at a time when our economy is at a very critical stage.

This is a company that made $6.4 billion last year and made $4.3 billion in the first three quarters of 2009.

How much is enough? Where do we draw the line? This is a very profitable company. Our customers and our members contribute to these enormous profits.

We all have a responsibility to improve our situation, but we need corporations like Verizon to meet us half way.
