Did McClenny get bad advice?

To the Editor:

Many times it is not a good idea to take advice from someone who does not know both sides of a complaint.

I do not know Officer Ronald McClenny, but I very much feel that he took bad advice from someone.

He and his adviser should have known that his complaint should have been brought to the attention of our City Manager, before presenting such to City Council.

The Virginian-Pilot published an article concerning this complaint. I don’t think it would have caught that paper’s attention, had not someone, perhaps McClenny’s adviser, made a point to do so.

After 30 years of service, with good performance records, it’s sad that McClenny did not retire graciously. Perhaps he would have, had he not accepted advice from someone who once again wanted to “stir the pot.”
