Adolphus G. Bradshaw
NORGE—Adolphus Gilliam “AG” Bradshaw died Nov. 20, 2009.
He was born May 24, 1924, in Southampton County, to Mills Edwin and Bessie Whitfield Bradshaw.
Mr. Bradshaw graduated from Courtland High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe before marrying Nancy Smith and moving to Norge.
He was a member of Olive Branch Christian Church. He graduated from the College of William & Mary in 1952, with a bachelor’s degree in government. He retired as chief of civilian personnel at Ft. Monroe in 1977.
He was a member of the initial Planning Commission for James City County, on which he served for 39 years.
He was a member of Ruritans since 1948, accumulating 50 years of perfect attendance with the James City Ruritan Club.
After retirement he began raising Christmas trees.
His greatest joy was his family.
His eldest son, Gilliam, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; their other children, M. Anderson Bradshaw and wife Ann, Richard Bradshaw, Lawrence Bradshaw, Nancy Sheppard and husband Charles, Philip Bradshaw and wife Melanie, and Russell Bradshaw and wife Linda.
The funeral service was held Monday at Olive Branch Christian Church, Norge.
Nelsen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
