Businesspeople say officer will be missed

To the Editor:

We wish to go on record to express our feelings about the recent resignation of Ronnie McClenny from the Franklin Police Department.

Ronnie has served the City of Franklin for years as a dedicated police officer — always alert, always ready to assist, always polite, always professional.

His presence in downtown Franklin made us feel safe. As Ronnie walked the streets of Franklin, he would take the time to do a quick “walk through” of area businesses, making sure everything was OK.

Business owners and shoppers alike had the feeling that the “eye of the law” was upon us, watching over us and keeping us safe. No doubt Ronnie’s presence made a potential lawbreaker think twice before “doing the deed.”

Officer McClenny’s presence will be greatly missed. He was just one of the many “ingredients” of this small town that makes living and working in Franklin so special, and he will be greatly missed.
