FRANKLIN — The Franklin City Council will hold a special called meeting on Monday at City Hall “to discuss and consider the performance of employees in the police department and to evaluate the performance of the police department.”

The city sent out a notice Friday afternoon about the meeting.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. but is closed to the public because personnel issues will be discussed, according to City Manager June Fleming. She did not comment further.

Last Monday, Ronald McClenny, a sergeant and 25-year veteran of the city police force, resigned during a City Council meeting and accused Police Chief Phil Hardison of “creating a hostile work environment.”

Hardison denied wrongdoing and said he runs the department according to “the policies and directives of both the city and the police department.”
