James R. Branch
FRANKLIN—James Roosevelt Branch died Oct. 31, 2009, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
The North Carolina native was born Oct. 24, 1923.
Mr. Branch retired from Roundtree Construction. He was preceded in death by four children, Rudy Branch, Tony Branch, Maryland Branch, Allie E. Lane; brothers, James Thomas Branch and Hurley Branch.
Survivors include his wife, Allie B. Branch; eight daughters, Toronta Branch, Pamela Chance, Caroline Stroud, Juliet Sykes, Elizabeth Eaddy, Clementine Hill, Nora Everette, Pauline Mitchell; seven sons, Alvin Branch, Terry Branch, Stanley Branch, Dan Branch, Willie Branch, Earl Branch, Menzell Branch; one sister, Elizabeth Bynum; three brothers, Bob Branch, Horace Leon Branch; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, Newsoms, with the pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Cole delivering the eulogy.
A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., Franklin.
