CAPRON—Vivian Ward Felton, 84, died Nov. 2, 2009.
Born in Gates Co., N.C., she was a daughter of the late Cuthbert Cook and Mary Asbell Ward and, along with her late husband, Marvin Edward Felton, was a former co-owner of the Capron Service Center.
Mrs. Felton was a member of Capron United Methodist Church and the Sunshine Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Upson (Tommy) and Mary Kim Walton (Steve) all of Drewryville, and Jill Bryant of Capron; a son, Dean Felton (Ann) of Drewryville; three sisters, Juanita W. Speight of Suffolk, Janet Brown (Don) of Franklin and Phyllis Hosier of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Leslie Bradbury (Mark), Shawn Maddry, Kevin Griffith (Amanda), Adam Whitehead, Jason Felton (Melissa), Thomas Upson (Leslie), Julie Walton and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two grandsons, Brian and Andy Griffith.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Drewryville Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Vornov officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Sandra and Tommy Upson, 12101 Cedar View Road, and requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Capron UMC c/o Mrs. Kay Pope 16208 Old Belfield Road, Capron, VA 23829 or the Alzheimer’s Association 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502. The family wished to express their deep appreciation for the loving care given by Shirley Long, Delores Eley, Dr. Ponder and the staff of the East Pavilion and Southampton Memorial Hospital.
