James K. Butts
FRANKLIN—James Kenneth Butts, 62, died Oct. 24, 2009, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, after a long illness.
A native of Southampton County, he was employed with and retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. in New York City after 30 years of service.
Mr. Butts was a member of First Baptist Church, Franklin, where he was active with the Male Chorus, Mass Choir, Sunday school and Bible study.
He was a member of the Hayden High School Alumni Association.
Survivors include his mother, Dolly Stephens Nichols and sister, Darlene Myrick.
He was predeceased by his father, James Dennis Butts.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in First Baptist Church.
Dwight Shawrod Riddick, senior pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
